Jhapa DAO calls for surrender of licensed weapons ahead of elections
KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office of Jhapa has issued a public notice urging all holders of licensed firearms to surrender their weapons ahead of the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 (March 5).
The move aims to ensure a clean, fair, and peaceful voting environment.
According to Tej Prakash Prasai, Assistant Chief District Officer, all firearms and ammunition must be handed over to the nearest police post, area police office, or the district police office by the end of Magh.
He added that weapon owners can reclaim their firearms by presenting the necessary documents at the district administration office 21 days after the completion of the election.
Highlighting that a peaceful and secure election is a matter of national pride, the District Administration Office called on all residents, civil society, and stakeholders to fully cooperate with this initiative.
