Gagan-led Congress decides to revise proportional list, update signatures
KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress, led by Gagan Kumar Thapa who was elected through the party’s Special General Convention, has formed a Manifesto Drafting Committee under his leadership.
The decision was taken during a Central Working Committee meeting held on Thursday at a hotel in Lalitpur.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, party spokesperson Devraj Chalise said that the meeting decided to form a Manifesto Drafting Committee under the chairmanship of the party president.
The committee will be responsible for preparing the party’s election manifesto.
According to Chalise, the meeting also decided to actively mobilize party ranks across the country with a focus on the upcoming elections.
For this purpose, an Election Mobilization Committee has been formed under the leadership of Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma.
He further informed that preparations are underway to update and revise the party’s past records following the second Special General Convention.
The meeting also decided to amend and update the proportional representation list.
“The meeting will continue tomorrow as well,” Chalise said. “Remembering the path shown by our founding leaders and embracing the sacrifices of the martyrs, we have taken necessary decisions to build a reformed and strengthened Nepali Congress in line with the changing circumstances and to make the party more capable and resilient for the elections.”
He added, “We have formed a Manifesto Drafting Committee under the chairmanship of the party president. An Election Mobilization Committee has also been formed under Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma to actively mobilize party cadres across the country. We have decided to replace and update past records after the second Special General Convention. Decisions have also been made to revise signatures for candidacy registration and update the proportional representation list.”
The meeting also expressed gratitude to the party workers who participated in the Special General Convention.
