Oli objects decision to withdraw cases against Rabi Lamichhane
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has objected to the decision of the Office of the Attorney General to withdraw cases related to organised crime and money laundering against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane.
Speaking at the 42nd Piskar Martyrs’ Memorial Day program in Kathmandu on Thursday, Oli said such actions were fuelling impunity in the country and providing opportunities for external forces to interfere.
“By withdrawing or amending cases, are they trying to turn someone into a hero ahead of the elections? All this is being done to mislead the people,” Oli said. “A situation is being created where one can consume anyone’s property without consequence, where rules and institutions no longer matter.”
The former Prime Minister also accused the government of acting at the behest of foreign powers and manipulating laws and procedures to serve its own interests.
Oli further said that a puppet government operating on foreign instructions was unacceptable. “Nepal must have a government of Nepalis. Not a puppet government of foreigners,” he said.
