KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress will hold its 15th General Convention from Jan 10 to 12, the party announced on Monday.

The decision, along with the convention schedule, was unanimously approved during a meeting of the party’s Central Committee.

After lengthy discussions, the committee finalized the timetable, party spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat informed.

According to the schedule, the Village Convention will be held on Dec 31, the Municipality/Village Municipality Convention on Jan 1, the Provincial Assembly Constituency Convention on Jan 3, and the House of Representatives Constituency Convention on Jan 5. Conventions in all seven provinces are scheduled for Jan 5 & 6.

The party has also decided to form three committees for the convention: the Draft Constitution Committee, the Central Active Membership Election Committee, and the Central Election Committee.

Spokesperson Mahat added that party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka will form these committees through mutual consultation.
