KATHMANDU: The deadline to apply for election police for the upcoming House of Representatives election on Falgun 21 in Kaski, Baglung, Mustang, and surrounding districts has been extended by two days.

Earlier, applications were open from Poush 25 until Thursday, but due to low response, the Election Police Recruitment and Appointment Committee, Kaski, announced the extension until Saturday.

According to Chitrangat Baral, Member Secretary of the Committee and Assistant Chief District Officer, 2,303 election police personnel will be deployed in Kaski.

Applicants can submit their applications at the District Police Office or Armed Police Force, Nepal, No. 24 Kalika Battalion.

Priority will be given to retired personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, former forest guards, those who have previously served satisfactorily as election police, and Nepali citizens who have worked in foreign security agencies.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and not older than 54, with basic literacy skills, Baral added.

The selection process will be completed between Magh 5–10, with results published on Magh 12.

Selected personnel will receive training from Magh 15–24, and their service period will last 40 days.

Election police will receive NPR 34,776 for the 40-day period, along with allowances for food and uniforms. Preparation expenses of NPR 846 and four days of snacks totaling NPR 1,200 will also be provided.

The selection and appointment will be overseen by the Chief District Officer.

The District Administration Office is taking steps to ensure effective security during the election.

The office has also publicly announced that anyone in possession of illegal arms must surrender them to the nearest police office by Magh 15, warning that failure to comply will result in action under prevailing laws.

The move aims to ensure a free, fair, credible, and peaceful election.
