KATHMANDU: A 37-year-old inmate, Tanka Bahadur Darji of Urlabari-1, has died while undergoing treatment at Koshi Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Darji, who had been admitted to the ICU on Mangsir 7 due to difficulty in breathing and body weakness, was in custody at Morang District Prison since Shrawan 30 for a drug-related case that was still under trial.

With his death, the number of inmates who have died in Morang Prison since Baisakh has risen to 14.

Just two days ago, inmates Tej Bahadur Rai and Harkjung Limbu also passed away while receiving medical care.

Prison authorities have reported that many inmates continue to suffer from severe health issues, including weakness, breathing difficulties, and chest pain.
