KATHMANDU: The United States has closed its embassy in Kuwait until further notice.

The embassy made the announcement through a post on X on Tuesday. “Due to ongoing regional tensions, the US Embassy in Kuwait will be closed until further notice. We have cancelled all regular and emergency consular appointments,” it said.

Meanwhile, the US embassy in Riyadh remains closed on Tuesday.

In a post on X, the embassy said all routine and emergency American Citizen Services appointments have been canceled. “Avoid the embassy until further notice due to an attack on the facility. We continue to limit non-essential travel to any military installations in the region,” the US Embassy in Riyad said.

The US Department of State on Monday urged US citizens to leave Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen at the earliest.
