Domestic flights to operate on demand during HoR elections
KATHMANDU: Domestic flights across Nepal will not be completely suspended on the day of the upcoming House of Representatives elections, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has clarified.
According to the aviation regulator, internal flights will be operated and managed based on passenger demand and necessity during the election period.
CAAN stated that all types of domestic services will be adjusted in line with traveler flow to ensure smooth air connectivity nationwide.
Regarding international operations, regular flights to most destinations will continue as scheduled.
However, flights to Middle Eastern countries will be subject to the prevailing situation in those nations, decisions taken by the respective authorities, and airport conditions.
Airlines operating in the Middle East sector will follow revised schedules determined by the carriers themselves.
CAAN noted that recent developments in the region have already led to the temporary suspension of several flights to those destinations.
While road transportation is expected to face tighter restrictions during the election period, CAAN’s decision is likely to offer relief and convenience to passengers opting for air travel.
