Protests in Iran Enter Fourth Day Amid Rising Inflation
Kathmandu, Jan 1: Protests against rising inflation in Iran have continued for the fourth consecutive day, spreading to several cities across the country.
According to the BBC Persian service, images and videos have surfaced showing overnight demonstrations in various Iranian cities. In Kuh Dasht, security forces reportedly used force to disperse protesters. Authorities in Loristan province said one person was killed and 13 others injured during the clashes.
Footage from Kuh Dasht shows security personnel firing directly at protesters. In Fasa of Fars province, hundreds of residents were seen gathering in front of the governor’s office to protest against the worsening economic situation.
Meanwhile, images have also emerged showing the arrest of a student in front of the dormitory of Beheshti University in Tehran, further escalating tensions.
The BBC reported that sporadic protests continued in several cities as Wednesday evening approached, including Hamedan, Kuh Dasht, Genabheh, Dorud, and Aligudarz. The demonstrations reflect growing public anger over inflation and economic hardship across Iran.
