Nepse slips 4.28 points; turnover also drops to Rs 4.71 billion

KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losing streak in the second trading session of the week on Monday, slipping by 4.28 points to close at 2,645.24.

The benchmark had briefly recovered from an early slump, climbing to an intra-day high of 2,658.42, but the rebound proved short-lived. By the close, the market had surrendered all gains to finish 0.16% lower.

Prices of 125 scrips declined during the session, while 124 advanced and eight remained unchanged. Market turnover fell to Rs 4.71 billion, down from Sunday’s level, with 10.86 million shares changing hands through 60,620 transactions.

United Modi Hydropower Ltd recorded the highest turnover of Rs 271 million. Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd and Bandipur Cablecar and Tourism Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 153.85 million and Rs 146.79 million, respectively.

Sector-wise, five trading groups ended in positive territory, while the remaining eight closed lower. The Finance group led the gainers with a 0.91% rise. In contrast, the Investment group posted the sharpest decline of 0.73%.
