NC leaders reach Election Commission
KATHMANDU: The newly elected central working committee of the Nepali Congress, chosen through a special general convention, has reached the Election Commission to update the party’s official records.
Party President Gagankumar Thapa and Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma visited the Commission following a decision made at a meeting held earlier this morning.
The party leadership submitted an application seeking formal recognition of the newly elected leadership and the completion of the special convention in accordance with the party statute.
The central committee meeting also appointed Devraj Chalise as the party’s new spokesperson.
Discussions during the first meeting focused on various issues, including preparations for the upcoming election scheduled for Falgun 21 (March 5).
Since the special convention elected a new leadership unanimously on Wednesday night, the party is required to update its documents with the Election Commission.
Once the Commission accepts and verifies the application, the new leadership will be officially recognized as the legitimate Nepali Congress.
Vice President Pushpa Bhusal is also part of the delegation.
