Wolves stun Liverpool with last-minute deflected strike
KATHMANDU: Wolverhampton Wanderers secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool in a Premier League clash at Molineux Stadium.
Rodrigo Gomez gave Wolves the lead in the 78th minute, only for Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to equalize five minutes later by capitalizing on a defensive error.
Just when the match seemed destined for a draw, Wolves’ Andre struck from distance in the fourth minute of stoppage time. The shot deflected off Gomez, wrong-footing goalkeeper Alisson, and sealed a stunning win for the home side.
This victory follows Wolves’ earlier triumph over Aston Villa, yet the team remains near the bottom of the table—11 points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool, meanwhile, missed a crucial chance to move into the top four. If Manchester United and Aston Villa win their matches, the Reds could fall six points behind, threatening their Champions League qualification hopes for next season.
