ITAHARI: Five workers died when a truck carrying marble lost control and overturned at Phoolchowk in Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality of Sunsari on Thursday morning.

The workers were in a truck transporting marble from Biratnagar to Sunsari via the Hulaki Highway. The five workers who were sitting on top of the truck were crushed by the loaded marble and died on the spot.

According to the Sunsari District Police Office, the driver and two others were injured in the accident. The identities of the deceased have not yet been ascertained. The injured are receiving treatment at Birat Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar.

Police say the deceased were traveling along with the marble placed on the truck’s cargo bed.
