Here’s Gagan Thapa’s new Congress team (full list)
KATHMANDU: The special general convention of the Nepali Congress has elected a new Central Working Committee, with young leader Gagan Thapa unanimously chosen as party president.
Held at Bhrikutimandap, the convention initially finalized the leadership through a majority decision in its closed session, which was later endorsed unanimously by the full assembly.
With this, the party’s leadership has officially passed into the hands of the younger generation.
World-renowned youth leader Thapa will be supported by Bishwo Prakash Sharma and Pushpa Bhusal, who have been elected as vice presidents.
Similarly, the convention entrusted key organizational responsibilities to younger faces. Pradeep Paudel and Gururaj Ghimire have been appointed as general secretaries of the party.
In line with the party’s inclusive principles, the convention unanimously selected eight joint general secretaries representing various communities.
Dila Sangraula represents women, Prakash Rasaili the Dalit community, and Bahadur Singh Lama the Indigenous Nationalities group.
Likewise, Udaya Shumsher Rana has been chosen from the Khas-Arya community, Mukta Kumari Yadav from the Madhesi community, Pharmullah Mansur from the Muslim community, and Yogendra Chaudhary from the Tharu community.
Karnabahadur Budha has been selected from the backward regions category.
