Sino-Japanese tensions over Taiwan threaten World War III

जयराम गौतम 3 hours ago

Kathmandu. Tensions between China and Japan, long-time foes over the Taiwan issue, have been rising for some time. The war of words triggered by Japan’s statement on Taiwan has reached a war point.

Experts have warned that a misstep between Asia’s two largest economies could lead to a military confrontation. If this happens, the conflict could move beyond the two countries and lead to a world war-like situation. Experts have discussed three such possibilities.

According to The Sun, experts have warned that the war of words between the leaders of Japan and China will highlight the precarious security situation in the region. Ashok Swain, a professor at Uppsala University, told The Sun, “Although the possibility of war between the two countries is low, the possibility of a deterioration cannot be ruled out. ’

Both sides are tough on Taiwan

Army analyst Philip Ingram said Japan is increasing its military capabilities to demonstrate its power in the region. Japan is doing something it hasn’t done since World War II. China is already spending heavily on its military and is cracking down on Taiwan.

Professor Swain discussed three possibilities where both Beijing and Tokyo would consider red lines. These are the three scenarios in which China and Japan could face each other. This means that such an event could lead to a full-blown war between China and Japan.

Three Causes of World War

According to Prof Swain, incidents that could start a war between China and Japan include fighter jet skirmishes or naval warship collisions. It forms the focal point of military activity. Which makes it difficult to control stress. In such a situation, the firing may have already started before the politicians could intervene.

Another reason Professor Swain said could be a misunderstanding or an accident. This includes the pilot taking the wrong path. In such a situation, the situation can go out of control due to military action by both countries. The Marco Polo Bridge incident in 1937 was one such incident. It is believed to be the beginning of the Second Sino-Japanese War.

Other countries also jump into the war{

The third possibility, according to Prof Swain, would be Japan’s weapons deployment near Taiwan, another red line for China. China will react strongly and immediately if any weapon is placed on or near Taiwanese soil. Japan’s deployment of missiles in Taiwan would almost certainly lead to a military confrontation.

If a conflict breaks out, experts say, the United States would be the first country to be drawn into war because of its security pledges to Japan. This will be due to the U.S.-Japan Security Treaty. In which Washington promised to protect Tokyo. The U.S. maintains large military facilities and troops on Japanese soil.

Russia–Iran entry

}

Russia and China do not have a NATO-style defence agreement. But they have a deep strategic relationship. Many experts believe that the Russian military will help China’s defense. Russian President Vladimir Putin may look for an opportunity to invade Europe in this conflict. Iran and North Korea could also support Russia and China, potentially escalating the conflict into World War III.
