KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the Bibeksheel Sajha Party have formally unified.

The two parties announced their merger at a special event held at the City Hall in Kathmandu on Sunday.

The RSP Acting President, DP Aryal, and the High-Level Dialogue Committee Coordinator, Dr Swarnim Wagle, and Bibeksheel Sajha Chairperson Samiksha Baskota and Vice-chairperson Prakash Chandra Pariyar signed the unification documents.

As part of the unification agreement, the two parties have decided to recognize and honour the contribution of the late Ujwal Thapa and the “Bibeksheel campaign,” acknowledging their role in promoting alternative politics in Nepal in party documents.

The agreement further states that leaders of Bibeksheel Sajha will be represented in the Federal Leadership Forum formed by the RSP until the party’s next national convention. Similarly, it states that Bibeksheel Sajha members and advisers will be adjusted into RSP structures at the central, provincial and local levels based on merit, public reputation and the principle of inclusiveness.
