One killed in bus–scooter collision in Rupandehi
KATHMANDU: A 28-year-old man was killed in a road accident at Devdaha of Rupandehi District on Sunday night after a bus collided with a scooter, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Sunil Pandey, 28, a resident of Devdaha-7.
The accident occurred at around 10:30 pm at Ghodaha Kanta Chowk in Devdaha-9 when a bus (Lu Pra 01-001 Kha 0816) heading from Butwal to Kathmandu struck a scooter (Lu 92 Pa 7990) coming from the opposite direction.
Pandey sustained critical injuries in the crash and was rushed to hospital for treatment. However, doctors pronounced him dead during treatment.
Another scooter rider, 28-year-old Krishna Paija of Devdaha-5, was injured in the incident.
He is currently undergoing treatment at Devdaha Medical College, according to Bhimsen Bista, in-charge of the Devdaha Police Post.
Police suspect that overspeeding may have caused the accident. The bus and its driver have been taken into custody for further investigation.
