Thapa seeks quick EC update
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa, elected through the party’s special convention, has urged the Election Commission to promptly process the necessary updates following the conclave.
Under the party’s constitution, the special convention resulted in changes to the party’s leadership and official records.
Accordingly, Thapa’s delegation submitted a formal request to the Election Commission to update the official records without delay.
The team met Acting Chief Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari and other commissioners, requesting swift action on the matter.
“We have come to the Commission to update the records as required by the Political Parties Act. We request the Election Commission to decide on this matter as soon as possible,” Thapa said.
He added that all necessary documents, including details of the newly elected committee, were duly submitted in line with party regulations.
The delegation included senior legal experts Harihar Dahal and Yadunath Khanal, along with newly elected leaders such as Vice Presidents Bishwprakash Sharma and Pushpa Bhusal.
The Election Commission has received the submission, though no official response has been issued yet.
