Kathmandu: Abrar H. Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, inaugurated and handed over a newly established computer laboratory at Gyanodaya Secondary School in Purano Kalimati, Bafal, on November 29. The project, supported by Pakistan, reflects ongoing cooperation in strengthening education and digital learning in Nepal.

The ceremony was attended by community leaders, local government representatives, and distinguished figures including former Governor of Nepal and former Vice-Chairperson of the National Planning Commission Dr. Deependra Bahadur Chhetri, school management committee chair Ram Babu Koirala, teachers-parents association chair Debakhar Bhattarai, Ward 13 Chair Dhruba Narayan Manandhar, District Education Coordination head Dr. Samantamani Acharya, KMC Education Division head Keshav Gyawali, and Principal Vishnu Ghimire Rimal.

Participants welcomed Pakistan’s long-standing support for the school. The first computer lab was donated in 2013 and served students for 12 years. The new facility includes 40+2 computers, new furniture, and upgraded flooring, and will support ICT education for senior classes. The older lab has been refurbished and shifted to the primary level to strengthen early digital literacy.

Ambassador Hashmi praised the school’s leadership, teachers, and community for their commitment to improving education. Addressing students, he encouraged them to embrace modern technology while staying rooted in their culture, and highlighted opportunities in fields such as artificial intelligence, e-commerce, innovation, and fintech.

Students and community members also welcomed the announcement of a new Nepal-Pakistan Friendship Society at the school and appreciated the Embassy’s commitment to strengthening music and sports activities, initiatives expected to further deepen ties between the school, the Embassy, and the people of both countries.
