Ncell denies political SMS reached customers, warns VAS partner

KATHMANDU: Ncell’s serious attention has been drawn to an incident in which a large number of political SMS messages were circulated through a bulk SMS service provider.

Ncell would like to clarify that the said unauthorized SMS was not delivered to Ncell customers.

Following a review of the incident and assessment of potential risks, Ncell has warned Aakash Tech, a Value-Added Service (VAS) provider that has partnership with the company involved in circulating the said SMS.

Ncell maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards misuse of telecom services for unauthorized or politically motivated purposes.

Ncell strictly prohibits the use of its services for any content that violates prevailing laws, regulations, ethical standards, or customer data privacy.

As Nepal’s first telecom company to receive ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications for information security and data privacy, Ncell continues to uphold the highest standards of customer data security and personal privacy.

Ncell would also like to inform that robust technical, operational, and contractual safeguards are in place to protect customers’ personal data.

Customer data is not shared or allowed to be misused for any unauthorized purpose.
